How To Clean Out Your Condensate Drain

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c7gONf6sIHY

This video shows a simple way to clean out the condensate drain on your air conditioner. If you’ve had problems with your air conditioner condensation pan not draining and being clogged, then you might find this video helpful. This video will show you how to avoid this problem and save you money and water damage.

The video says to use a wet/dry vacuum cleaner and connect it to the condensate drain to your air conditioner with a tight seal. Then turn on the vacuum cleaner and let it suck out all the material that is clogging the drain. The video says that you should do this about every six months. If your air handler is in the attic of your home or if you live in an apartment or condo, then it is more important for you to clean out the condensate drain.

Also make sure that there isn’t anything blocking your air conditioning unit. If there are weeds or grass growing around the unit, then make sure to cut them. Cut the branches from bushes or trees that are growing near the unit as well, so they don’t grow into the unit.

Make sure that all the pipes and wiring leading to the air conditioning unit are in good condition and that there is no rust. Check that the disconnect is closed up enough so that bugs or water can’t get in. Watch the video if you need any more information.
